Educational Garden Program
Previously known as the G.R.E.E.N. Program, our Educational Gardening Program was developed with the mission of empowering low-income communities through the knowledge and practice of self-sustainability. By teaching both children and parents how to grow their own food, The Make A Difference Organization is actively taking steps to provide healthier and more affordable food options to underserved communities.
We achieve this by establishing local community gardens, offering hands-on gardening classes, and providing home visits to new gardeners to ensure they are supported in their efforts. Through these initiatives, our program not only fosters a deeper understanding of sustainable farming practices but also helps improve access to fresh, nutritious produce.
Our goal is to collaborate with neighboring organizations to create vibrant neighborhood farmers' markets, offering residents the opportunity to access locally grown, fresh foods. By bringing these resources into the heart of communities, we aim to promote long-term health and self-sufficiency while strengthening the bonds within these neighborhoods.
